I had a great question from one of my loyal readers Anthony Pham. What are the meanings of the little flags that you see used by surveyors and public works departments? Well I did not know but I was able to find out pretty easily.
Typically pink flags are used to delineate the limits of a wetland area and or temporary markings. Utilities use the following colors: electric is red; phone and cable are orange; gas is yellow; water is blue and sewer lines are marked with green.
Now you know! I can glance at them now and tell almost exactly what is going on, however I am red green color blind so some of that might not be a big help to me.
