Mayor Bowl 3 is set with the finalists

The long season is almost over with two teams finally making the prestigious "Mayor Bowl 3". The semifinals were finished yesterday with the following results.

Terry Vandenboom beating Chris Rozakis 108-96
Al Villasenor beating Rik Flor in overtime 80-80 (tiebreaker was 3-1 in TD's scored)

Good luck to the finalists!

Fantasy Football Semifinals are set!

The third annual Mayor's semifinals are set, and kicked off last night with two match ups.

Terry Vandenboom against Chris Rozakis
Al Villasenor against Rik Flor

Where I am you may ask? My team was excused by Rik in the quarterfinals quite easily. Good luck to the four semifinalists!

Fantasy Football Update

This year is the third of The Mayoral Fantasy Football challenge. Each year the league has grown from 10 players the first year to 12 and then 18 players this year. The regular season is winding to a close this weekend setting up the playoffs where my utterly obnoxious nephew Chris Rozakis and Al Villasenor have locked up the top seeds, followed by Terry Vandenboom and Rik Flor. The final two playoff spots are going to be decided amongst me, Paul Hollingsworth, Eric Multerer, Steve Serres, Davis Clark, Jason King and Jimmy Tonias. Also playing the game are Cris Nolan, Brian Brubaker, Cliff Metaxa, Craig Harrison, Ryne Sanchez, Michael Blum, and Dan Foecking.

Fantasy Football Kickoff Tonight

This is it! Mayor Bowl III is starting tonight with the start of the NFL season. This season 18 teams entered for the road to the MB3, up from 12 last year and 10 the year before. We have a good selection of elected officials playing so public ridicule is upcoming on the blog and is virtually a guarantee (assuming my team does not stink)!

Good luck to everyone and next year if we have more teams we will explore a more energetic league (of course it will be called Senator Bowl then!) and the bragging rights will be greater!

My first game is against Team Multerer, who appear to be masterminded by a teenager so I am wary!

Time for Fantasy Football-- Season 3

If you are interested in participating in season three of Fantasy Football let me know via email and put Fantasy Football in the subject so I can sort it easily! I would love to have more people involved this year!

Last year we had 14 people step up. The game has an auto draft so there is no time commitment on draft day so your time commitment is low and enjoyment high!

Fantasy Footbal Fiasco---- NOT

After starting the season 0-5 I closed hard to 8-6....and made it into the playoffs of the the Mayors Fantasy Championship. The likelihood of me making the Mayor Bowl like I did last year are much slimmer since my team only works when Drew Brees is playing!

The big question is can the Round Lake Contingent stop the out of towners Two Grayslake residents are the one and two seeds! I appear to be the 4 seed...Sean Gillete is the 3 seed.

During my 7-1 run I beat the top 2 seeds like a drum, so I am hopeful!

Fantasy Footbal Fiasco

I am 0-5 and there is no improvement in sight. We have 16 players this year which is great, and I am holding up the league. There is no way I can talk trash...so this is a short post.

Its Time for Some Football

Last year we had the first annual Mayoral Fantasy Football Challenge...and I am pleased to announce the second annual one is fast approaching! Last year we had 10 people step up and challenge me....I beat all the Round Lakers...only losing in the Super Bowl to a Grayslaker (I stiffed him on the trophy however so we can all breathe easier that the wholly imaginary trophy is not in Grayslake.)

If you want to compete let me know via email and put Fantasy Football in the subject so I can sort it easily! I would love to have more people involved this year.

We are going to use Fox Fantasy Football again and an automated draft, so there is no need to get crazy (aka Sean Gillette) in fact Michael Blum who had never heard of fantasy football before last season did quite well finishing 3rd or 4th I forget which, although higher then Sean where ever he finished.

The draft will take place on September 1st and you need to sign up before August 29th. Here is the leagues homepage!
