Earth Day Flag Presentation at Village School

I was able to present an Earth Day flag to Village School yesterday, on behalf of SWALCO. Chris Geiselhart a HIGHLY committed employee for SWALCO coordinated the whole thing. There was a full house of kids and you would be amazed to know that the kids led by teacher coordinator and bundle of recycling energy Monica Dobre collected 50 sports shoes (sneakers, etc) for the Reuse-a-Shoe program. These are processed into sports surfaces such as track, basketball courts, football and soccer fields, keeping them out of landfills and making something new.
They also collected 4,603 pounds of paper, over two tons. Which is about the weight of 6 cows! Or 13 mayors? Not sure which. As always with Village School I had a wonderful time seeing the kids and interacting with them.
I can say without a shadow of a doubt that the kids instantly forgot about me when the next act came on...authentic Chinese Acrobats who were spinning about 40 plates on 3 sticks when I left.
