Davis Clark our Director of Public Works told us that he had only seen one other swarm like this ever and it was on Spring Valley Way on the North side of Valley Lakes a few years ago.
Currently training for the Chicago Marathon in October 2015. Enjoy my running diary. Sidenote:I was the first mayor in the United states to write an everyday blog, although I am no longer a mayor this is that blog.

Beware of Buzzing Bees!
Regular reader Kristin A. sent me this picture of a "A Cool Phenomena of Nature" (her words) of a giant swarm of bees in her back yard. Kristin lives in South Valley Lakes. The beekeeper she contacted for information about what to do about the swarm, came out to look at it for himself, in person. The beekeeper estimated the swarm to weigh in at over 20 pounds (the swarm had doubled in size between the time she snapped this picture and the beekeeper arrived), and contained an estimated 10,000 or more honey bees.
